All the animals will first go to:
*Please note we ask that folks not call the Shelter and overwhelm our phone lines.
Complete the volunteer form on our website, and we will contact you to follow up. Please note we CANNOT accommodate unscheduled volunteers. https://www.halorescuefl.org/volunteer-application
Our adoption process is outlined on our website. Potcakes arriving post-Dorian will be available for adoption in a few weeks after they arrive. We are following ALL quarantine protocols, and then the dogs will be available for adoption: https://www.halorescuefl.org/copy-of-adopt-1
Adoptable dogs will be posted to our website. We do have a few Potcakes now for adoption that had been sent over a few weeks ago from HSGB.
Please complete our adoption application: https://www.halorescuefl.org/adoptable-dogs
A quick tip, the adoptable animals can be searched with a CTRL + F (that is the control key, held down with the letter F) and then write in "potcake" and search.
We will not be contacting Fosters until the end of the quarantine period. Fosters should be based near Sebastian FL so that they can come to our Veterinarians for routine care, We cannot accomodate out of area Fosters, however, Potcakes from GB and other places in the Bahamas may be coming to a Shelter near you. So don't be afraid to reach out to your local Shelter.
The first round of Cats (aka Potcats) will be going to St. Hubert's in Madison NJ. https://www.sthuberts.org/
Please know that once the HSGB Shelter dogs and cats are evacuated, the effort will continue to get strays and abandoned pets out. The need is huge, we are just at the "tip" of the iceberg.
